I know I am incredibly behind in updating my blog and it is simply because I hate my blog right now. I do not want to post anything here as it is sooo ugly and out of date...the blog not the people in the photos:)

This is Trina & Dallyn who were married in a lovely ceremony in Preeceville, SK. The decorations and food at this wedding were out of this world. Since my husband is an RCMP member and Dallyn is as well they kindly invited him along and I swear he still talks about how amazing the food was over a month later. I cannot believe how much work Trina put into decorating/styling the entire day.....it was beautiful!!!
These two are posted only a couple hours away from us now and I hope they come and visit sometime this fall or winter!

I had the privileged of shooting Carly & Kashe's wedding a couple of weeks ago and I am so in love with these pictures. These 2 should simply be in magazines they are sooo incredibly good looking. They had the most quaint wedding at his parents farm that has been in the family for over 60 years now. Once I edit some of the location I know you will just fall in love with their farm theme like i did. These two live such an impressive life traveling all over the world and I was just so happy to be a part of their day!

On another note I realize my blog is a disaster and I am hoping to fix it soon!!

On August 26th my brother is going to Jasper, Alberta to do a charity road race with special guest Lance Armstrong. All money raised for the race goes directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. My brother idolizes Lance Armstrong and he has been training for this race for quite some time. He is biking over 100 kilometers which blows my mind especially because I am 8 months pregnant and walking 100 meters makes me have to sit down and take a breath!!!

This past weekend our good friends Dave & laurel came to visit us in our new home. They brought along their babies Sophie and Mozart that are two really funny and cute retrievers. They wanted me to shoot just one picture........I told them sorry no that's not the way it works. I dragged them out to a random spot I had never been before and we were eaten by mosquitoes but we all survived. It was a fun little shoot and I hope they like the pics!

For the next little while I will be out of touch and traveling here there and everywhere. I am doing sessions at Emma, Christopher and Waskesui Lakes from July 19th to the 30th. Sessions will be in the evening after 6:00 p.m. please let me know if you are even thinking about booking as I am filing up fast!
From August 4th to the 15th I will be in Saskatoon. I am doing family and lifestyle sessions during this time as it will be my last openings before I go on maternity leave. I am not available for any Saturday shooting in August as it is wedding season and I am going to be hauling my big belly to a bunch of weddings trying not to look too ridiculous while shooting!!!

SO I basically want these two to me my new best friends! Lindsey & Mariel are friends of my cousin Brian and they contacted me a little while ago about doing some engagement shots. They are actually heading off to Vegas in November to officially tie the knot and then coming back here to celebrate with a large party!!! How cool is that? I love they way these two are so fun and carefree and think outside the box. They took me around the city and showed me some incredible spots to shoot and for that your guys I am forever grateful! If I was not due to have a baby in September these 2 may have found me in Vegas crashing their wedding because I think a) it would be so much fun and b) the incredible shots that we could do together down there would be amazing!!!

Moving Day

Today is the day I officially move to Meadow Lake. I will be packing up today at noon after my last day of teaching and I am out of here!!! It is all so bittersweet......I am looking forward to finally being with my hubby and being a family again but I am leaving my family mother, father and brother. It is only three hour away and I plan to be back to Saskatoon lot's for photography anyway. hey I am back this very weekend to shoot the fabulous Rachel & Darcy wedding......pics will be up soon. In fact all of my shoots that I have done recently will be up soon because I get to go home to my imac and photoshop today:)

2 Photo sessions today

It's 5:30 a.m. and I cannot sleep. I have 2 photo sessions today and I guess I am just too excited. One is a family session at 9:30 and the other is my friend Carrie's e-session. Not having photoshop right now is killing me!!!! I have 2 weddings and 2 grads shoots that I am dying to post.
That said I move to Meadow Lake this coming Wednesday. It has been a long time coming and I am excited to get there. My husband has been working there since April and we have been doing the long distance thing for awhile now and I am done!!!!!

Last Friday my little cousin was married in my Aunt and Uncle's backyard.The forecast was not good all week and in fact all morning it was not looking good. The ceremony was about to begin and the sky opened up with pure sunshine.......it was wonderful. Kelly and Brian are a special couple that have amazing energy and are so much fun. I was happy to be a part of their special day!

I always do this. I get too excited and post the first 2 or 3 pictures I edit because I am dying for someone to look at them. Today I went out with Claire, her mother and cousin to shoot her graduate photos. I personally think she look like Anne Hathaway.....beautiful!!!! OMG! We had to fight the wind but we managed to do so while still looking wonderful.....Claire that is. Her grad is tonight and I hope she is having a wonderful time. Claire will actually be second shooting for me for some weddings this summer and I am so excited to work with her. She has a great eye and a talent for photography. I know I always promise to post more pictures......I will so stay tuned please!!!

I have known this girl for 7 years now, or as long as I have been teaching in Clavet. Shelby is graduating next month and I am so excited to take her formal shots as well. She is so pretty, poised and feminine.....I wish I had that kind of grace when I was 17. The mosquitoes were out in full force tonight but I made her stand in a grass mosquito infested field for quite a long time while I captured these beautiful shots.

Please note before reading this post is taken directly from Deb Schwedhelm's blog. I am simply posting it on my blog because I was so moved by the post and I could do no justice trying to explain what I had come across. Right now I am five months pregnant and the thought of having my picture taken absolutely mortifies me.....how absolutely ridiculous I am. This our 1st child and I should capture and celebrate every moment. My Grandma on my mother's side was a an amazing lady that we barely have any record of. She kept very few pictures from her life and my mother's life. She is gone now and I feel like i have nothing left to hold on to. Since I was a kid I would always want to look at other people's photo albums.......even if I barely knew the person I would ask to look at their photo albums. I was always enthralled with their life moments that they captured. I feel like my mother's life moments have not been captured enough and one day when she is gone this will devastate me. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and everyone (including myself) should embrace life's moments and capture memories.....it is all we will leave behind when we are gone.

is there a perfect time?

a friend posed this question today on her facebook wall: what is holding you back from booking a family photo session?

quite a few women (moms) quickly commented that their weight is holding them back, which made me really sad. and a few posted money, which i understand but i also believe that there’s enough photographers out there to cover everybody’s budget.

this all led me to thinking about the perfect time.

is there ever a perfect time to have photographs taken of your family?

it’s so easy to say –
i’m too fat.
i have too much going on.
we’re too busy.
maybe next year.

but i just want to say STOP IT! we need to take the time to appreciate the value of family photos, if not for ourselves (because we’re too fat or whatever), then for our children. in 20 years, your children are not going to say,

i really love this photo of my family but i wish my mom had waited until she lost some weight.

kirsten sandstrom, who recently passed away at the age of 37, leaving behind a husband and three young boys. i don’t think for one second that those boys will look at photographs of their mom (who pre-cancer probably wished she could have lost some weight) and see her as anything except the most amazing and beautiful mom there ever was.

we never know what tomorrow will bring our way. and life is quickly racing by; before we know it, our kids will be grown and leaving the house.

NO, THERE IS NO PERFECT TIME.

i hope that this will inspire someone, who might be waiting for that perfect time or to lose a couple of pounds, to book a photographer…today!

and let us all try to slow down, remember what’s important and see and hear the everyday beauty that surrounds us.

This is my little RUBY sunshine girl. Today she had a bath and has never looked better. I just had to share a couple of pics of her because I am so in love with her. My husband and I rescued her in October and ever since I feel so blessed to have found her. Anyone that knows me know that I LOVE DOGS with all of my heart......and it's true....RUBY has a BIG place in my heart. In fact my husband is a little scared for me to have this baby.....he thinks I might just set him/her aside and go off to play with the dogs and completely forget about the baby. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is people that have babies and then choose to neglect their animals. People say "oh you will change" BUMP that!!!!I stay true to my commitments and have more than enough room in my life and heart for all!!!!!
I will post pics of my other pooch Benji once he gets a bath, he is a little grease ball right now!!!

I have been a bad blogger and I apologize. Life has been moving so fast for my husband and I right now. We are in the process of moving and relocating to Meadow Lake while I am staying in Saskatoon until the end of June to finish off the school year. My 2010 summer wedding season is completely full however I actually have a few dates in may and June open still. I am thinking of doing a little spring wedding promotion so stay tuned for more details.
I am really interested in doing some "day after sessions" with couples and brides. Essentially we get together on a day after the wedding ( does not have to be the very next day) and go out for a fun shoot. We can go out to off the beaten path locations that did not fit in due to the craziness of the actual wedding day. We are not afraid to get your dress a little dirty and your make-up and hair does not have to be totally perfect for 8 hours. It is a fun shoot where anything is possible. These pictures could actually end up being better than your actual wedding day pictures because all the nerves are gone and you are totally relaxed....oh and you get to ear your dress one more time!!!!

OK first and foremost if I were to be getting married I would wear THIS dresss. I do not know the designer although I will assume it is an Australian designer. Jasmine Star shot these at her workshop in OZ recently.

Oh speaking of J-Star yeah that's me right beside her. She has her arm around ME!!!! I went down to Orange County California a couple of weeks ago and did her Amazing workshop. I was literally star struck the entire time!!!!Jasmine and her husband are the ULTIMATE photography duo on the planet!!! Not only did they teach me a lot about photography, they taught me a lot about trying to be the best person you can possibly be!!! SO Inspiring!!!

On the 13th of February I had the honor to drive to Watson to photograph Anette and Kevin's wedding. I have to say I was really touched by their story and how in love these two seem. They were in a very long distance relationship when Kevin up and drove over 22 hours to go and sweep Anette off of her feet. He brought her here to the freezing cold Saskatchewan weather yet the smile on her face shows that she could care less......as long as she has him to light up her life. I could feel the love radiating off these two all day. I was in awe of the way Kevin cherished Anette and I was so happy they let me share in their special day.

I cannot believe I am leaving for California on Monday! I am sooo excited about this photography workshop that I am going to. There are 20 photographers from around the US going and I think I am the only Canadian. We have all connected on Facebook and it has been wonderful looking at all of their work I feel so inspired.
Tomorrow I am shooting a wedding in Watson and I am really excited for a Valentine wedding:) I hope to post a few sneak peaks before i leave for Cali!!!!

Big Changes

Well I am getting sooo excited for my wedding photography workshop coming up in Orange County California! I have a brand new camera waiting there for me when I arrive and I am soooo excited to start using it! It will be great to get out and shoot in some beautiful California sunshine.
I have been waiting to announce this until it was official and I guess now it is......Swoon Photography is moving to Meadow Lake Saskatchewan. Yep that is right do not adjust your monitor we are moving. My husband's job is taking us there this spring. Well I actually will not be moving until after the school year in June. I will be leaving my Art/Photography teaching job that I have been at for 7 years at the end of the year to join my hubby in Meadow Lake. I am born and raised here in Saskatoon therefore this will be a HUGE change for me and I am really excited and a little nervous.
That said I will be traveling all over Saskatchewan for my wedding season and I am still available to shoot in Saskatoon and surrounding areas until we move.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still here and still going strong. Life has been incredibly busy for me and things keep changing at a rapid pace. I am looking forward to my favourite season coming up......Wedding Season!!!! I am heading down to California next month for a workshop with an INCREDIBLE wedding photographer so I hope to learn a lot and bring back some great images for you all!
I am almost booked up completly for July and August however I do have some Spring dates available so please contact me sooner rather than later if you are getting hitched this year!

My cousin and his AMAZING girlfriend went out for a fun shoot yesterday despite the freezing cold! I love these two and I really love our special Korpan Tractor Location. My grandpa started the company over 40 years ago and passed it on to my father and my Uncle. Now my big brother and little cousin are both working there and our family legacy lives on. It is a special place for all of us and I really love the cool backdrops we found around the shop!

I am officially done shooting for the holiday season! Besides working and shooting my hubby and I are off to North and South Carolina in a couple of weeks. I am on edit lock-down mode from now until then. I might share a few sneak peaks at photos that I am editing along the way.....Like this one.....sooo cute!!! I have been trying to catch up on editing.....tonight I was working on this shoot. Lauren and I have been friends since grade 3 and I love her. She is incredibly funny and always makes me laugh! There is something really special about old friends that you have known forever. We have known each other since we were 8 years old......crazy!!!! Last night I went and shot my friend/neighbor Leica and her super cute family. We got together at 5:00 and shot for about 15 minutes. We ran out of light FAST and had to hurry hurry hurry. I must say I love my little concept above however I am not crazy about the quality of the pics due to the poor light. It is the middle of December and we have no snow, temps have been super nice and this is VERY unusual here. This is officially my only Xmas shoot of the season as I have NO time. This teaching full-time and shooting is keeping me busy and I am not making commitments I cannot keep. My hubby and I are off to North and South Carolina in 4 weeks and I do not want to be thinking about editing while I am away!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be taking anymore bookings before Christmas. In order for me to get everyone's order in before Xmas I am needing time to process and edit. Working as a full-time teacher on top of SWOON has been challenging yet very rewarding. I am not Wal-mart and I cannot process client images in a day I need time. I am super behind in all of my editing however I just had to post a pic from today. This is Jazzmin a grade 12 student of mine. She is sooo beautiful and cool it is sick. She has amazing style, an artistic edge and on top of it all she is super sweet! How lucky am I to cal her on of my students? I think I have the 2 best jobs in the entire world right now!

I have known this couple for over 10 years and it was great to see their little sweet family last Sunday. We went out to the family acreage which I believe is the coolest place ever!!! We wandered around outside snapping shots until the kids were cold and had enough. That is one thing I dislike about our falls.......they are way to short!

Yesterday I traveled down to Regina in the lovely October winter snow! I could not believe the weather...it was supposed to be a beautiful crisp fall day with wonderful shades of yellow, orange and red all around us. The only thing red was Sara's super cool wedding dress! This couple was really fun and I had a blast tagging along with them all day yesterday. They actually were married a week ago in Las Vegas and yesterday were celebrating with friends and family. Next week they are off to Thailand for another fabulous trip. These two really know how to do everything right...and with style!!!!

My husband and I are spending Chrismas in North Carolina this year and i was hoping some of my blog readers would be able to help me out. We have never been there before and know nothing about it. We have heard that Asheville is amazing and other than that we are totally lost. This is my dream destination and I have no idea why. It is a place i have ALWAYS wanted to visit. I dream of huge old bed and breakfasts, southern charm and beautiful scenery. If you can help me out in any way as to where to go and what to do I would really appreciate it. Oh and I am planning on bringing my camera along so maybe I could come and photograph your lovely family!!!!!!

I am starting to think about Grad and it is only September....ahhhhhh!!!!! Since I teach full-time I super busy with photos and the reality of my teaching life! I have been fortunate enough to meet some wonderful kids over the past 6 years and kailyn is one of them. We went out shooting tonight and had some fun playing around. Kailyn actually graduated over a year ago but never had "real" pictures taken:) It is never too late in my opinion!!!!
I am inspired for my spring Grad sessions already and will be taking bookings ASAP! If you or any of your friends want to get together for a fun photo-shoot before or after the big day let me know! In the USA these are known as SENIOR sessions however the trend is catching on here. The idea is that you do 2 shoots one at the beginning of the "senior" year is casual clothes that reflect who you are and then again at "prom" time when you are all dolled up and looking great! It is a milestone in a 17 year old's life that should be captured and treasured forever!!!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful family this past Sunday for a quick photoshoot in the park. Shea brought so many awesome props for the kids to play with, I was so impressed! This busy mom works as a teacher plus raises three children....the thought of it makes me want to go take a nap. Being a full-time teacher myself I cannot imagine rasing a family and working at the same time. A lot of people do not realize how tiring a day of teaching can actually be!

This is the best wedding entrance I have ever seen! What a celebration of life and happiness. I love seeing people celebrate outside of the norm!

This got me thinking about my wedding which was just over a year ago. How quickly time flies when you are having fun. All of that planning down to the tiniest detail is all over in a flash. I would never trade it for anything as I loved the process of wedding planning. I love the wedding industry and I think that is what drove me to do what I am doing now. I connect with brides and what their day is really all about. I think I am going to start updating this blog with little wedding inspirations and sources that I found helpful when I was planning a wedding! Today I thought I would share a few details of my day.
-We had a cookie bar......my mother and my husband's mother baked our favorite cokkies and we displayed them in apothecary jars......a little twist on the candy jars as we had a kid free wedding and didn't think candy was appropriate! Photos by Forever Captured.
- Our guest book was a faux photobooth. We gave each gust a white board to write a message on and then had a friend take their picture in front of a fabric backdrop. The only problem was that it got dark out and we lost light hence the quality of the shots. This was soo much fun as you can see people were very creative and as the night went on the images/messages became very interesting........good memories!!!!
- We had our dance outside on a beautifl outdoor patio. The night was amazing it was the perfect tempature, there were no bugs (crazy for Saskatchewan) and it was really fun! I cannot post pics of my hubby on here as he is in law enforcement and cannot have his picture published so please excuse the back shots.....just wanted to share the idea!
- Oh and one idea a lot of people that I was crazy for.......I sold my dress.....YES a couple weeks after the wedding I had a girl drive here from Winnipeg and bought my dress. I ended up spending more on my dress that I thought was reasonable so I decided BEFORE I bought it that I was going to sell it and try to recover some of the costs! I actually advertised it on a few sites before the big day. Knowing that I was going to sell it from the beginning made it really easy to part with. I have all of these wonderful images to remember it....plus my hubby and I booked a trip to Mexico thanks to the sale of the dress! Dress photos by Forever Captured.
- My bridesmaid dresses are from JCREW. Jcrew has an amazing wedding section that is super affordable and VERY classy! I actually bought a wedding dress there before purchasing my dress....I sent it back as it did not look good on me......great dress just not on me!

This is my beautiful sister-in-law Melanie. We met up at the farm for a fun little shoot which was sooo easy to do because of how stunning Melanie is! It was a beautiful late summer evening on on the farm where everything is peaceful,beautiful and warm. I love the shot of Melanie and her pug blue....although it may not be totally perfect and in focus, it captures what a little brat Blue is....he is always on the go and much too busy for a cuddle!
Although I am a city girl and did not grow up on the farm I love it. As you can probably tell from my recent shoots I am obsessed with the beauty of our rural landscape right now. Here in Sask we have such a short summer and the fields really come alive with texture, growth and utter beauty.....I am obsessed with capturing it right now!!!!!

Jenn is sooo amazingly gorgeous it blows me away. I have actually known Jenn for a really long time as we grew up in the same neighborhood.
